

Christopher Blair, Ed.D.
Dr. Blair is the founder and Executive Director of the Alabama Black-Belt Children’s Region.
Prior, he served five years as Superintendent of the Bullock County School District having achieved district transformation on large, urban school districts as Deputy Chief of Schools for Chicago Public Schools, IL and Chief Academic Officer for Montgomery Public Schools, AL. In addition, he served as an English teacher, math teacher, elementary and middle school principal, central office administrator, post-secondary dean of education, and as a program administrator for the Alabama State Department of Education.
He was a 2020 Alabama District IV Superintendent of the Year and 2020 Finalist for Alabama State Superintendent of the Year. He is the founder of the Alabama Black Belt Children’s Region with three model programs funded by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, the Alabama Legislator, the Alabama Department of Education, and the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. He serves as a national presenter covering topics including equity in legislation, early childhood education, community engagement, cultural responsiveness, and board-superintendent relations. Dr. Blair completed fellowships with the Southern Education Foundation’s Racial Equity Leadership Network (RELN) and with the KIPP Leadership Design Fellowship where he was equipped with essential skills and resources to increase his equity leadership capacity and advance meaningful change for all students. Also, Dr. Blair served on the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Executive Leadership Council, the advisory boards of the Alabama Governor's Office of Minority Affairs, and the Alabama Rural Learning Accelerator. As well, he is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
He is an award-winning, proven educational and instructional administrator and collaborator with experience in innovative organizational and instructional practices, and building district and school leadership capacity in others. Demonstrated ability to increase student achievement, increase financial resources, improve capital outlay, and establish community and state support as a teacher, principal, cabinet executive, and superintendent of schools.
Dr. Blair’s passion for leadership development and demonstrated ability to inspire education leaders to come together around a shared vision of student success have been instrumental in helping schools and districts develop internal capacity to improve and achieve continuous improvement.
